Emergency Care

Emergencies / Out of hours

We provide an emergency service with one of our equine vets on call 24/7, 365 days a year. We hope you don't need our help; but we are always on-hand if you need us.

To call the out of hours service please call 0114 426 5454 and follow line for 'large animal' - this will connect you directly with our on-duty vet who will take your details and discuss any issues with you.

As we provide an emergency service to a large area spanning over three counties, we aim to be with you for any emergency calls within 1 hour, although this is usually a maximum and in most circumstances our vets will be able to be on-site much sooner.

Important information

Our out of hours service is offered to our registered clients and in the event of an unregistered client requesting an emergency visit you may be asked to pay upfront at the time of the visit, depending on the circumstances.

In an emergency we understand that it is difficult to remain calm and composed however it is incredibly helpful to our vets if you can give a very accurate description of exactly where our vets need to attend in order to make our journey as efficient as possible. If you have an address that is difficult to find, it is useful if you call our reception in normal working hours to get a description uploaded to your account, which can then be used by our vets in an emergency.

For more serious emergency situations our vets may advise that your horse is referred to an equine hospital for treatment. In these circumstances, it is the clients' responsbility to organise and cover cost of transport; however, our vets may be able to help contact transport options if needed.
